Modifications: Acetate or benzene, nitrate or chlorate may be used as electron donors or acceptors respectively. Yeast extract may be omitted, and Na-acetate may be replaced by benzene: Autoclave a stock solution of 1.56 mg benzene per ml distilled water in a gas tight tube. Add 20 ml per liter to the already sterilized medium.
