Supplement medium with 1 g/l Yeast extract added from a sterile anoxic stock solution after autoclaving. Omit solutions B and F. Replace solution D with 20 ml of a 1% (v/v) solution of 1-propanol. Replace solution G with 10 ml of a 3% (w/v) solution of DL-dithiothreitol (sterilized by filtration). Before inoculation, add only 10 ml/l of the propanol solution. When growth has started, feed the same amount of propanol again.
